I love working with clients and seeing them grow in their practice and their demeanor shift over time. I love that Pilates is not only a physical practice but also a mental one. It is a time where you can escape the daily world and focus on your body that day and what it needs to go forward.

Avid Gardener | Back and Shoulder Issues | Moderate Scoliosis

When I was 18, I was dancing pre-professionally, and I got into a bad car accident,

where I suffered multiple back injuries as well as a torn rotator cuff in my shoulder. I enrolled at Appalachian, where I rediscovered my love of Pilates in a more rehabilitative mindset.

After 2 years of Pilates, I had almost forgotten about my back surgeries and treatments and was completely off of any pain medication.

As I continued dancing, I found Pilates was more beneficial to my cross-training than other weightlifting programs I had attempted for dancing. Having moderate Scoliosis since birth, I also found Pilates helped my posture and overall discomfort and made me more aware of my body’s irregularities, and how to balance them out.

I can empathize with the immediate and long-term rehabilitation process

having gone through back and shoulder issues myself. I usually like to focus on the mobility of the spine and shoulders in my practice (injury permitted, of course).

I am always happy to give clients at-home techniques to combat time spent at a desk or sitting for long periods of time.

At App State, I completed a 600+ hour certification program from second-generation Romana Kryzanowska classically trained instructors. I was trained on all Pilates apparatuses, including Mat. My foundation in classical technique helps me understand the “why” behind the exercises and the Pilates technique.

I look forward to expanding my knowledge to more contemporary techniques during my time at Beyond Pilates. I am always striving to learn more to better assist my clients and their goals.

With my background in ballet and rock climbing,

I focus on the specific placement of the body in space, not just the exercise. I find that balance points, breath, and correct coordination can change how you efficiently reach a goal, whether it be in day-to-day life or in your active pursuits.

Movement is my passion and I love exploring different forms of physical activity.

Aside from my active pursuits, I am an avid gardener alongside my dog who always likes to assist.
