Sacroiliac Joint Pain | Hypermobility Issues

I am naturally drawn to helping and teaching others.

I am so fortunate to have fulfilled this interest through teaching Pilates! Aside from Pilates, my 2nd passion is horseback riding. I am also a fan of most any outdoor activity including backpacking and mountain biking.

Finding Pilates has given me the ability to participate more in these passions, and teaching it has allowed all my interests to come full circle.

because it allows me to problem-solve with clients, creating a plan to achieve their goals.

I especially appreciate working with those with chronic conditions that cause them to feel held back by their body.

Over the past decade, I have struggled to identify and treat my own sacroiliac joint pain and generalized hypermobility issues. I have experienced cyclical patterns of chronic pain most of my life, but finding Pilates changed that pattern!

Applying this experience while teaching Pilates has allowed me to inspire others who may be discouraged by their limitations to find everchanging improvement in their body through practice. Seeing their improvements in balance, strength, and fluidity is very rewarding. Observing someone change their relationship with their body from one of frustration to appreciation is even more so rewarding!

As an instructor, I hope to share my knowledge and love of Pilates

with others so that they, too, can explore all it has to offer. Pilates is an accessible form of exercise that is also very healing for both mind and body. Through Pilates, I hope to empower others to see for themselves the strength, balance, coordination, and peace that comes from practice.

I empathize most with people who want to be stronger in order to be able to do the things they love!

Movement is life, and I have a keen eye for symmetry in movement.

Identifying these patterns allows me to be very precise about form. Precision and symmetry in movement are very important for getting the most out of your Pilates practice.

I have been so fortunate to have taken courses with several different Balanced Body Instructors all over the country. This has given me the opportunity to observe and learn from a variety of different teaching methods and ideologies. I’m grateful to be mentored by Dr. Erin Jarrett. Her insight from a physical therapy perspective and application has been very helpful when working with special populations. She has taught me that it doesn’t have to look difficult to be difficult!

Pilates can truly be modified for anyone, and there are so many ways to add incremental challenges in order to progress.
